ABOUT

About Kobe Share House Warai

A share house near the sea, complete with vegetable gardens.
This home has been lovingly renovated with DIY touches, featuring plastered walls, solid wood flooring, and domestically sourced igusa tatami mats.
But our greatest focus isn’t on the house itself—it’s on the hearts and feelings of each resident.

Peaceful, Joyful, A Place to Belong
At Share House Warai, that’s what we strive to create.
It’s not just about living under the same roof.
We want your heart and body to feel lighter and freer every day.
At home, we hope you’ll feel at ease, relax, and just be yourself.
We aim to foster warm, family-like relationships where you can care for one another without feeling drained.
A space where true connections can flourish.

"Do you have cleaning schedules? Any house rules? What if someone disrupts the harmony?"
These are the questions we get most often.
At Share House Warai, we don’t impose rules.
Instead, we engage in open conversations with our housemates, listening to one another’s perspectives and feelings as situations arise.
When we create a relationship where everyone can share openly and genuinely, rules naturally become unnecessary.
Even if it seems challenging at first, don’t worry! Our landlord, Inoji, and the experienced management team are always here to support you.

"A stress-free, easygoing lifestyle."
Why not come experience it here?
We’re here to help you get started! (^^)

PLACE
A Location That Balances Nature and Accessibility
Kobe City, Tarumi District – Coastal Area
Our share houses are located along the beautiful coastline of Tarumi Ward, Kobe City, combining serene natural surroundings with excellent transportation access.
We operate five share houses between Tarumi Station and Maiko Station. Each house is just a 1–7 minute walk from JR Tarumi or Maiko Station, or Sanyo Kasumigaoka Station.
From here, it’s only 15 minutes to Kobe and 48 minutes to Osaka, making it ideal for commuting.

The areas around Tarumi and Maiko Stations offer multiple supermarkets, the Marinepia Kobe outlet mall, a public bathhouse with hot stone spas, and sandy beaches—all within walking distance.
For nature enthusiasts, a 10-minute train ride takes you to Sumaura Park Station, the gateway to Mount Hachibuse at the western edge of the Rokko Mountain Range—perfect for hiking adventures.

We also manage family-friendly and pet-friendly rental homes, some of which even allow for operating a café. These houses foster a vibrant community, with opportunities to connect and share with one another.
CONCEPT
A Home Surrounded by Sea, Mountains, and Natural Materials
What Does “Warai Sharing” Mean?
At Warai, “sharing” is at the heart of how we build our community. Each house holds regular gatherings where residents, together with the landlord and staff, can freely express their thoughts—whether it’s concerns about shared living, desires for change, or boundaries they wish to set. This open dialogue forms the foundation of our relationships.
Even if misunderstandings arise, we prioritize listening to each other’s honest feelings and recognizing our differences. By understanding someone’s background, we often gain clarity, find empathy, and feel inspired to share our own feelings. These moments of genuine connection soften our hearts and deepen our bonds.
This spirit of open communication and mutual understanding is central to the Warai experience.
Our monthly “Open House & Social Events” offer opportunities to connect with the broader Warai family, which includes approximately 30 members across all our properties, including standalone rental homes. These gatherings encourage friendships that go beyond individual houses, fostering a sense of unity across the entire community.
COST/SECURITY
Affordable Living with the Benefits of a Share House / Safety and Comfort for Women
One of the main advantages of living in a share house is the cost savings compared to living alone. Initial move-in costs and monthly living expenses are significantly lower. Plus, with fully furnished spaces that include appliances, you can move in with just one suitcase.

We offer women-only houses and houses with separate facilities for men and women, ensuring a secure and comfortable living environment. For those who prefer a mixed-gender setting, we also have co-ed houses within walking distance in each area. These homes provide the added reassurance of having a helping hand nearby when needed.

Polina (Property name:Grand Blue)
When I mentioned wanting to keep a ferret, Inoji-san, the owner, led the discussions with other residents, and I was able to start keeping one. They even helped with rides to the vet, which was a big help. I also started teaching Russian to local children, expanding my connections. Sitting on the balcony, drinking tea, and reading while enjoying the ocean view made life in Room 204 truly the best!
I made lifelong friends!

Yumi (Property name:Ocean)
With various events and sharing sessions, I quickly became close to my sharemates. One of the residents who moved in at the same time as I did has become a lifelong friend; we still meet regularly and even travel together after moving out. I also gradually got involved in house management and renovations, gaining valuable experiences. The charm of Warakui is definitely Inoji-san—or rather, it really is! And, of course, being close to the ocean is a huge bonus!

Hana (Property name:Organic)
I loved the time spent in sharing and dialogue circles, where we listened to each other's feelings and thoughts. Instead of strictly adhering to rules and agreements, Inoji-san's approach to creating something from mutual understanding and dialogue left a deep impression on me. I found myself wishing for such a place to exist at work or in other activities as well.

Augusto (Property name:Grand Blue)
I didn’t spend much time at home, but it was always comfortable. While there were some language barriers, I made great memories with some incredible people. Finding a place like this isn’t easy. Every morning, I’d have coffee on the steps in front of the house, and Archi Ken (a sharemate) would join me for long talks—that’s one of my favorite memories.

Kana (Property name:Organic)
I was initially hesitant, so I decided to tour the property and stay for a trial night before moving in. On weeknights, we’d clean fish or do tofu tastings. On weekends, we’d go for drives using the shared car or work in the fields together, deepening our bonds while experiencing a life close to nature. My dreams, like trying my hand at farming, keep growing—just like a loaf of bread rising!

They’re such fun people that naturally, other fun and interesting people gather here, creating a delightful lifestyle and plenty of opportunities to meet others. The close proximity to the ocean, the view of the night sky and sea from the room, and the blend of city living with chickens and gardens make this place truly the best☆

Being able to walk to the beach? Honestly, it’s incredible! And the gas oven here is top-notch—you can bake professional-quality bread even as an amateur. Even during the pandemic, we had weekly dinners, went on shopping trips that doubled as walks, and traveled using the shared car, living together like a real family. Plus, we’ve got a garden where I’m fully enjoying the gardening life!

I was worried about getting along with my housemates, but I’ve met some amazing people. While we have different jobs and values, sharing the same roof without being overly dependent on each other is wonderful. We respect one another and coexist in harmony. Maybe it’s because everyone here understands their own worth.

The vegan gapao rice made by one of my housemates? Delicious! We’d spend late nights chatting endlessly over coffee and snacks, letting me relax and just be myself. When I went through something tough, they simply stayed by my side. My housemates are so natural and genuine. And with the beach within walking distance, this is truly a fantastic place♪

Mariko (Property name:Garden)
At Waraku, there were no generational barriers, and I could connect with everyone. I had the chance to interact with people from other buildings, which really expanded my world. We did things like an English conversation cafe and even a seaweed harvesting experience. The coastal views right nearby were surprisingly beautiful and so soothing. Also, Waraku was the only place with a website where you could see the faces of the owners, which made it a deciding factor for me.

P-ko (Property name:Garden)
The space with clay walls and natural wooden floors made it so easy to breathe! It gave me a wonderful feeling where my body just felt happy. Plus, the owners are incredibly hospitable—during mochi pounding, they organized an event to send the freshly pounded mochi to families, and in summer, the owner treated us to octopus he caught at the beach. It was a shared house experience filled with handmade charm and humor.

Living at a relaxed pace

Living at a relaxed pace

Ken (Property name:Organic)
At first, I was a little confused living with people much younger than my children, but over time, through moments of togetherness, I’ve gradually warmed up. I’m often comforted by the sounds of chickens, the sea, and distant ship whistles. It’s become amusing when I can’t keep up with the topics of conversation and get teased a bit. It’s such a blessing to have someone to talk to at home.

Aki (Property name:Grand Blue)
I sold my house and now live in a facility to care for my elderly parents, but I come back every year. Although the members change, there’s always something new to discover, and it’s really interesting. The act of sharing—opening up and talking things through with others—helps me feel at ease during my stay, and it’s comforting to know that others are getting to know me. I’ll definitely be back!
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there properties with meals included?

Generally, residents prepare their own meals, but we do offer the following services for those interested:
Catering for side dishes : You can order a variety of side dishes from Chef Hana (minimum order of 3000 yen).
Monthly communal meal : We host a communal meal once a month as a way for residents to interact. It’s free to join, and you can enjoy a hearty meal full of vegetables!

Can single mothers move in?

This is subject to discussion. There may be potential noise concerns from adjacent rooms, so we recommend discussing with your fellow sharemates first. Afterward, we suggest an in-person viewing and trial stay to assess whether it will work. Additionally, in the Maiko area, the Granblue and Arch buildings are within a 1-minute walking distance from the affiliated share house "Honey," where the house manager lives with their child. In the past, we’ve also had single mothers living here, and the property has been advertised as pet-friendly, so feel free to consult with us!

Are there private rooms available?

Yes, all of our buildings offer private rooms only—there are no dormitory-style rooms. You can rest assured that your privacy is protected. We have both Japanese-style and Western-style rooms, ranging from 3 to 10 tatami mats in size. Rent starts from the low 30,000 yen range. Depending on the room's design and layout, there are also rooms with high soundproofing.

Can I rent for a short period?

Yes, short-term stays are possible. However, for stays under six months, we ask that you acknowledge the following two conditions:
Deposit : Of the 30,000 yen deposit, 20,000 yen, which is normally refunded upon departure, will not be refunded.
Viewing Access : Even during your stay, we ask that you allow us to show the property to prospective tenants. We will always contact you in advance, and there will be no unannounced visits to your room.
MESSAGE

Message from the Landlord

Hello, I’m Inoji.
Thank you for checking out our website among so many share houses.
So, let me ask you right away—what kind of living situation would you like in a share house?
What’s your ideal share house lifestyle?
While a good location and well-maintained facilities are a given, I’m sure you’re also curious about the kind of people who live here, right?
I started opening my family home to share with others back in 2007, and began a life of sharing. What we share is not only the house, but also food, cars, time, friendships, knowledge, and much more—things both visible and invisible. There’s a lot to share, but it’s not something you have to do. It’s about having that desire to share with people you connect with, naturally wanting to do things together, give, or receive.
From 2007 to 2016, for ten years, I ran the share house with the concept of “a view of the sea,” “natural material renovations,” and “living an eco-friendly lifestyle in the city.” Together with my housemates, we continued activities such as DIY projects like plastering and installing wood floors, making mochi, brewing miso, gardening, hosting English conversation cafes, and practicing yoga—each one of us contributing and cooperating along the way.
