Returning to Japan and Moving to Kobe

—Could you introduce yourself?

My name is Augusto Yuki Muraki. I’m half Italian and half Japanese, and I came back to Japan for the first time in about ten years. I often visited Japan when I was a child, and I was fortunate to have another opportunity to live here.

Yuki first lived on Awaji Island, but the journey to work was too long. He moved to Kobe to make his daily commute easier and chose Grand Blue, WARAI’s international share house near Maiko Station.

Sharing Everyday Life with Housemates

Although work kept him busy, Yuki found Grand Blue comfortable. His Japanese was not completely fluent, but he enjoyed talking with the other residents and sharing daily life with them. For him, the welcoming and interesting people were one of the best parts of the house.

Pizza, Hanami, and Shared Memories

His favorite memories were made around food: shared dinners, a party featuring his authentic Italian pizza, and a cherry-blossom picnic where everyone brought something to eat and drink.

“I spent time with wonderful people,” he says. “It was fun getting to know everyone I met at this share house. It isn’t always easy to find a place like this.”

The Language Barrier Was Manageable

The biggest challenge was the language barrier. Even so, it never became a serious problem. It was simply one part of living abroad, and Yuki was able to enjoy the experience along with everything else.
